a Tree & a House
Hello to you lovely people that come by and read these lines.
I have two things to show you today. First one is a tree brooch that I made as an entry for a craft challenge over at dA. I always admire those wire wrapped tree pendants so I decided to make one but as a brooch, with the background and little seed beads sewn onto it. And I wanted to try coloring the felt like Mrs. Deborah does so this was a perfect project for it.
It came out really nice and the only thing I'm not so sure about is it's edge. I kept trying to add things to it - different beads - but it just didn't look right. So I decided this was it and left it like this. Maybe anything else on the edge would distract from the tree anyway.
I would really love to know how it looks to you as input from non-family members is very valuable to me :)
For the second thing; if you wondered what was on the photo from my WIP Wednesday No.3 post, wonder no more:
It is the house/box in which Mr. Cat and Mr. Fish will be traveling to Ireland in. I'm glad I finally finished it even though it's not at all as I wanted it to be. But I really need to send them off and get to other projects.
And how are you? What have you been up to?

This is so lovely and original again Nini. I love the brooch, the tree is whimsical. The house/box looks great too. This inspires me to try out some creative things in 3D in the future.

Oh my goodness, this is amazing! I love that you ship your items in their own little home!!! Incredibly creative idea. Well, now I'm stumped again as to how to start sending off my works. I really want it to be fun for the buyer, but don't have enough time to do something as intense as this. Pinterest here I come! Unless you have any suggestions...? Lol! Seriously LOVE this!!!
ReplyDelete:))) thank you so much Melissa! Well, I don't intend to make such boxes in the future as they take up a lot of time to make. Maybe if I'd come across a solution to make them in batches and faster and all... but I'm sure they wouldn't have that much "me" in them if I'd do that. But I wanted to do it like this because it's just the perfect box for my dolls to live in :)
DeleteYou are selling your paintings right? Hmmm.... I'd say as long as they are really well protected they need to be the main thing you are sending. You could include a few prints of your other works with them made into postcards... like 3 of them, so the person who is buying could either send them around or keep them and hang them too. That would make me really happy if I was to receive a painting from you :)

Oh, and definitely love the brooch as is - no need to add any distractions on the edges. It's stunning enough already, any more might take away some of it's charm and beauty in my opinion. I'm loving your work Nini!

DeleteThe tree is so neat! I really like the different blues in the dyed felt, with the blue beads. And the tree form itself is perfect for the round brooch. Looks fine without extra stuff on the edge!
ReplyDeleteThe little house box is adorable! All I can say about packaging is... I used to do elaborate envelope decorations, and sometimes they were appreciated, but mostly they were not mentioned so I stopped doing them. I figure the stuff inside is what the folks are after, and that freed me up for other actual art. Sometimes I still decorate envies but not nearly as much. I think the box you made is so cute! And their little picture in there is aaaaaah, so precious lol. Looks great!

DeleteThat was quite terrible to not get any feedback on most of the envelopes that you put quite some time into (at least I imagine you did because you are really good at decorating small spaces :D ). I'd definitely appreciate a special envelope!

I wish you all the best with the post office and for the next Postcard Challenge you should borrow Kat Eye Studio's idea because it will generate the same amount of traffic but it won't cost you, except for your time of course. But her idea is really great and it would totally work for your post little office :)
