Eyelet Polka
I was working on my first embroidery thingie over this weekend. I followed Laura's tutorial and I must say I learned a lot. Here is my poor attempt at making the eyelets :)
I noticed I have problems with getting the needle where it's supposed to go, following the drawn line, pulling thread too much or too little and making things way too small (no idea why). But I'm quite satisfied with my results nevertheless.
I have to go and buy some extremely sharp scissors - the tiny ones for cutting off excess fabric and such - and a smaller hoop. And then do another set of eyelets to see my improvement. Oh, and try them with other type of threads too :)

Wow, I've never tried embroidery before. I imagine it to be totally difficult but I'd love to try one day. I hope you'll post more on your embroidery projects in the future! :) I'm curious about your progress!

DeleteI know I'll never be really good at it because I'm doing way too many things to be able to practice enough but I'm really enjoying learning the stitches. I'm getting anxious about the second tutorial too :)

DeleteWell, I also know nothing about embroidery but it's a lovely collection of dots! Seems like you've done a great job. If it was me, I'm pretty sure I would have stabbed myself in the finger more than once. :D

DeleteA lot of my friends can do embroidery. I sometimes want to try that too but then I just grab my pencil and draw. It's still what I love to do best :)

DeleteI must admit I have way too many interests and adding embroidery to them probably wasn't the best idea but I can't help it if I find it oh so nice ;)

ReplyDeleteHello and thank you Esther! Hexagon's side is 4,5cm. The smallest eyelet (the one on top) is 2mm in diameter and the big one (potato shaped ;) ) is 9mm at the wides point. They are all quite small (except for the big one of course).
